Lid Lock Assembly

This assembly contains the solenoid that physically moves the latch and the switch that communicates the locked/unlocked state to the control board. In this model, the internal solenoid often fails or the plastic slide becomes jammed, leading to an 'LdU' (Lid cannot Unlock) or 'LdL' (Lid cannot Lock) error. Replacing the entire assembly is the standard resolution for these symptoms.

Power Reset Procedure

Modern HE washers can experience logic hangs where the control board maintains a 'locked' state in its memory even after a cycle. Unplugging the unit for 5-10 minutes allows the capacitors on the main control board to discharge, often clearing the error and releasing the solenoid if the hardware is still functional.

Main Electronic Control Board

If the lid lock assembly is replaced and the error persists, the issue lies in the control board's locking circuit. Specifically, the onboard relay or triac that sends the 120V pulse to the lock solenoid may have failed, preventing the board from ever signaling the door to unlock.
