Door Lock Switch Assembly

This is an electromechanical assembly that physically locks the door and provides electrical feedback to the control board. Over time, the internal solenoid or the wax motor mechanism can fail, or the internal contact points can corrode, preventing the washer from sensing that the door is securely locked. Replacing this unit restores the mechanical locking action and the electrical signal path required to start a cycle.

Door Latch (Striker)

The striker is the plastic or metal hook attached to the door that enters the lock assembly. If this part is slightly bent, cracked, or misaligned due to door sag, it will not fully actuate the internal switch of the door lock assembly, even if the door appears closed. A visual inspection for damage or wear is necessary to ensure it is engaging the lock mechanism centered.

Main Power Control Board

The main PCB contains the relays that send 120V to the door lock solenoid. If the door lock and striker are functional but the board fails to output voltage to the lock during the initiation phase of the cycle, the 'dE' error will persist. This is considered a last-resort fix after verifying the door lock harness and switch are not at fault.
