Drain Tube Assembly

The defrost drain tube features a rubber grommet (duckbill valve) that frequently clogs or sticks shut due to biofilm or ice. When this happens, condensate water from the defrost cycle cannot exit the freezer and instead overflows onto the floor of the compartment. Replacing the old tube with the updated design ensures proper drainage and prevents the valve from freezing shut.

Freezer Door Gasket

If the freezer door gasket is compromised, warm humid air enters the compartment, causing excessive frost buildup on the evaporator coils that may exceed the drain trough's capacity or lead to rapid ice blockage of the drain port. Inspected for tears or lack of compression that would allow air infiltration.

Defrost Drain Heat Probe

This is a small aluminum clip that attaches to the defrost heater and extends into the drain hole. If the drain is freezing specifically at the port entrance, this probe conducts heat into the drain to keep it clear during the defrost cycle, preventing the overflow that creates the ice layer.
