This is the primary peripheral seal between the tub and the door. Over time, the EPDM rubber can lose its elasticity, tear, or become coated in detergent buildup, preventing a watertight seal and causing leaks around the top or sides of the door.

Lower Spray Arm

On this specific GE series, the lower spray arm often splits at the plastic welded seam. This creates a lateral jet of water directed horizontally at the bottom door seal, which is designed for splash resistance but not high-pressure water streams, leading to a 'mystery leak' at the floor level.

Lower Door Seal (Sweep)

This rubber flap or 'wipe' sits at the bottom of the inner door panel. If it becomes distorted, brittle, or detached, it fails to deflect water back into the tub during the wash cycle, allowing water to spill over the front lip of the basin.
