Carburetor Assembly

The Zama RB-K93 carburetor utilizes delicate rubber diaphragms that stiffen and lose elasticity when exposed to ethanol-blended fuel over a single season. This prevents the carburetor from pulsing and drawing fuel into the venturi, even if the primer bulb appears to work. Replacing the entire assembly is the industry-standard fix as the internal metering passages are too small to reliably clean.

Spark Arrestor Screen

Carbon deposits from 2-stroke oil combustion eventually coat the fine mesh of the exhaust spark arrestor screen, physically choking the engine's exhaust path. If the engine cannot exhaust spent gases, it cannot create the vacuum necessary to pull a fresh air-fuel charge into the cylinder, leading to a total no-start condition. Removing or replacing this screen restores the necessary volumetric efficiency for starting.

Ignition Coil (Magneto)

Internal high-tension windings in the ignition module can develop high resistance or short circuits due to thermal cycles and engine vibration. This leads to a 'weak spark' condition where the plug fires in open air but fails to ignite the fuel-air mixture under the higher pressure of the combustion chamber. A resistance check (Ohm test) usually reveals values outside the OEM spec of roughly 2.7k-3k ohms.
