Detergent Dispenser Assembly

The most common failure point is the integrated solenoid actuator or the mechanical latch within the assembly. Over time, the solenoid coil can experience an open circuit, or the plastic release lever can snap, preventing the spring-loaded door from sliding upward during the wash cycle. Replacing the full assembly ensures both the electrical actuator and the mechanical slide rails are refreshed.

If the dispenser door is physically clear and moves freely by hand, the failure is likely the electromagnetic coil that triggers the latch. When the control board sends 120V to the actuator, the plunger must retract to release the door catch; a burnt-out coil or seized plunger will prevent this release despite receiving the correct command signal.

Dispenser Door Slider

The sliding door itself can become warped due to high-temperature cycles or excessive detergent residue acting as a physical adhesive in the tracks. If the door's guide tabs are worn or the plastic has experienced thermal creep, the friction coefficient exceeds the spring's capability to push the door open once the latch is released.
