The tracking system relies on high-contrast fiducial markers to calculate 6-degree-of-freedom positioning. Tracking is lost when the camera cannot detect a minimum threshold of unique patterns due to insufficient tape application or worn/dirty tape surfaces. Replacing or adding more tape increases the feature density for the computer vision algorithm.

Replacement SM1 Magnetic Dust Shield

The magnetic dust shield is critical for maintaining the optical path between the camera and the workpiece. If the shield is missing or improperly seated, fine wood particulate (dust) bypasses the extraction flow and accumulates on the camera lens. This contamination scatters light and reduces the contrast necessary for the sensor to resolve tape patterns.

Precision 1/4-inch Collet

Excessive mechanical vibration from a worn or debris-clogged collet induces motion blur in the camera's image frames. Because the tracking algorithm requires sharp edge detection of the ShaperTape, high-frequency harmonics can prevent the software from locking onto markers even if they are visible, resulting in an intermittent 'Tracking Lost' error.
