Ice Maker Assembly

This is the most frequent point of failure for the 'frozen' symptom. Mechanical fatigue in the tray-twisting motor or a failure of the internal icing sensor prevents the harvest cycle from completing. When the refrigerator attempts to refill an already full tray, water overflows and freezes the entire assembly into a solid block.

Ice Room Fan Motor

The ice room fan (located in the freezer-to-door ducting) is responsible for pulling 0-degree air into the door compartment. If this fan fails or slows, the ice room temperature fluctuates, causing the surface of the ice cubes to melt and then refreeze into a single mass (bridging), eventually jamming the harvest arms.

Water Inlet Valve Assembly

A 'weeping' water valve occurs when the solenoid diaphragm fails to seat completely. This allows a tiny, constant trickle of water to enter the fill tube; because the ice compartment is below freezing, this trickle freezes layer-by-layer until the fill tube is completely blocked with ice, often misidentified by users as the 'ice maker' being frozen.
