Steam Boiler Heating Element

The heating element is a resistive coil that converts electrical energy into thermal energy. Due to factory misalignment of the water level probe, the element can 'dry-fire', where the top coils are not submerged in water, causing the internal nichrome wire to overheat and melt, resulting in a total loss of continuity.

Manual Reset High-Limit Safety Thermostat

This is a safety-critical bimetallic switch mounted to the boiler exterior. If the boiler temperature exceeds its rated threshold, the internal disc deforms and breaks the electrical path to the element. This prevents catastrophic thermal runaway and can be triggered by a temporary software glitch or a sticking heating relay.

Water Level Probe

The machine uses a conductivity probe to sense water volume. If this probe is incorrectly positioned or develops scale insulation, the logic board (Gicar) will not receive the 'boiler full' signal. To protect the hardware, the system will prevent the heating element from energizing until the water level is confirmed.
