High-Performance Thermal Paste

Over time, the factory thermal paste loses its viscosity and dries out, creating microscopic air gaps between the CPU/GPU die and the heatsink. Replacing this with a high-performance non-conductive paste restores the thermal bridge, allowing heat to move efficiently into the heat pipes. This is the most common and effective mechanical fix for thermal shutdowns in the Spectre series.

Replacement CPU/GPU Cooling Fan Assembly

The Spectre x360 uses ultra-thin fan blades that are highly susceptible to dust accumulation and bearing wear. Even if the fan is spinning, it may not be reaching the required CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute) to evacuate heat from the exhaust fins. A replacement fan ensures the active cooling component is operating at factory RPM specs without noise or friction-related speed loss.

High-Conductivity Thermal Pads

These pads are used to bridge the gap between the Voltage Regulator Modules (VRMs) and the heatsink. In thin-profile laptops like the x360, if these pads compress or degrade, localized heat on the motherboard can trigger a system-wide thermal shutdown even if the CPU core temp appears manageable. Fresh 0.5mm or 1.0mm pads ensure stable power delivery without overheating.
