The flashing red indicator is an error code from the Battery Management System (BMS) indicating either an extreme temperature state or a critical voltage imbalance between cell strings. If the battery has been over-discharged or stored in a high-heat environment, internal resistance increases, causing the BMS to trigger a permanent or semi-permanent lockout to prevent volatile thermal runaway during a charge cycle. Replacing the battery pack provides a fresh cell array and a reset BMS, restoring the tool's ability to accept a charge.
