Air Damper Control Assembly
The damper is a motorized baffle that regulates airflow between the freezer and fresh food compartments. If the internal plastic gearing strips or the motor windings fail, the baffle remains closed, trapping cold air in the freezer and causing the fridge to warm. This perfectly explains why one side is cold while the other is not.

Evaporator Fan Motor
The evaporator fan is responsible for forced air convection throughout the cabinet. While the freezer may stay cold due to its proximity to the evaporator coils, a failed fan motor cannot generate the airflow necessary to overcome the resistance of the ducting to reach the fridge section.
