L/R Shoulder Button Tactile Switch
The shoulder buttons utilize surface-mount tactile switches containing an internal metal dome that provides both the spring-back force and electrical continuity. Over time, repeated actuation causes work-hardening and eventual fatigue of this dome, or ingress of skin oils and dust causes oxidation on the copper contact pads. Replacing the switch assembly restores the original electromechanical properties and signal registration.

Shoulder Button Torsion Spring
If the button is physically loose or 'floppy' rather than failing electronically, the stainless steel torsion spring has likely slipped from its retaining notch or snapped. This spring is responsible for returning the plastic button housing to its neutral position after depression; without it, the button remains in a recessed state.

Shoulder Button Hinge Pin
The plastic shoulder button rotates on a metal hinge pin that is secured by the console's outer shell pressure. If the console has been dropped or the shell is cracked, the pin can migrate out of its alignment channel, causing the button to become physically detached or jammed within the chassis.
