Dual Run Capacitor
The capacitor stores electrical energy to provide the phase-shifted current required to start the compressor and condenser fan motor. Over time, the internal dielectric fluid degrades, leading to a loss of capacitance. This prevents the compressor from reaching the necessary RPMs to begin the compression cycle, resulting in the system failing to circulate refrigerant.

Thermostatic Expansion Valve (TXV)
The TXV regulates the rate of liquid refrigerant flow into the evaporator coil based on cooling demand. If the valve's internal needle becomes stuck or the sensing bulb loses its pressurized charge, the refrigerant flow is severely restricted. This starves the evaporator coil, preventing the phase change from liquid to gas that is required for heat absorption from the indoor air.

Electromechanical Contactor
The contactor acts as a heavy-duty relay that closes the circuit to provide 240V power to the compressor. Repeated cycling of the two-stage compressor causes electrical arcing, which pits the silver-cadmium contacts and creates carbon buildup. This buildup increases electrical resistance or physically welds the contacts, preventing the compressor from receiving the power required to actuate.
