Stainless Steel Impeller

Impact with stones causes the leading edges of the blades to bend or chip, disrupting the laminar flow of water. This deformation creates low-pressure zones where water vaporizes (cavitation), leading to a loss of propulsion and high-frequency vibration during operation.

Jet Pump Housing (Wear Ring)

The wear ring maintains a tight seal around the impeller to prevent pressure bypass. When a rock is ingested, it typically scores the inner diameter of this liner, increasing the clearance and allowing high-pressure water to leak back toward the intake, significantly reducing acceleration.

Intake Grate

The intake grate is the primary mechanical barrier for the pump. If rock damage has occurred, the grate bars are likely bent or fractured, which compromises the screen's integrity and allows larger debris to enter the pump assembly in future use.
