Burner Ring / Head

The burner ring contains precision-machined ports that facilitate the gas-to-air mixture. If the specific port aligned with the spark electrode is obstructed by food debris or moisture from a spill-over, gas cannot reach the spark gap. This prevents ignition regardless of the spark's presence, as the stoichiometric ratio required for combustion is not met at the point of discharge.

Spark Electrode

The spark electrode relies on an intact ceramic insulator to channel high voltage to the burner head. If the ceramic is cracked or fouled with carbonized grease, the electrical arc may 'track' to a grounded point away from the gas flow. This results in a visible spark that is misplaced and incapable of igniting the gas stream exiting the burner ports.

Spark Ignition Module

The ignition module is the electromechanical driver for the spark system. Over time, internal capacitors or transformers can degrade, leading to a weak or inconsistent high-voltage pulse. While the module may still produce an audible 'click,' the resulting spark may lack the thermal energy (millijoules) necessary to initiate combustion in the gas-air mixture.
