Oven Door Hinge

The 36-inch Viking door is heavy, and the internal high-tension springs inside the hinge assembly eventually lose their 'pull' or the pivot cam wears down. This prevents the door from exerting the necessary pressure against the gasket to create a tight seal. Replacing the hinges restores the original closing force.

Hinge Receiver

The hinge receiver is the female slot in the oven frame where the hinge seats. Due to the weight of the door, these slots can become wallowed out or bent over time, causing the hinge to sit at an angle. If the hinge doesn't sit square, the door will not close tight regardless of hinge strength.

Oven Door Gasket

While hinges are the mechanical cause, a hardened or compressed fiberglass gasket can fail to rebound against the door face. If the gasket has lost its elasticity or has become saturated with grease, it will create a visible gap even if the hinges are functioning correctly.
