Dispenser Micro Switch

This internal switch is responsible for translating the physical push of the lever into an electrical signal for the solenoid. Mechanical fatigue of the internal contact spring or the ingress of sticky liquids can cause the contacts to weld or stick in the 'closed' position, resulting in continuous dispensing of water or ice until the circuit is manually broken.

Water Inlet Solenoid Valve

The solenoid valve uses a spring-loaded plunger to stop water flow. If mineral deposits or debris from the water line become lodged in the valve seat, the plunger cannot create a watertight seal, leading to a mechanical failure where water continues to flow even when the dispenser electronics are de-energized.

Dispenser Control Board

The control board contains the power relays that drive the high-current dispenser motors and valves. If a relay suffers from 'contact welding'—where the high-voltage arc during switching physically fuses the metal contacts together—the board will provide constant power to the dispenser assembly regardless of user input.
