Primary Battery Pack
The lithium-ion cells within the pack are prone to minor volumetric expansion (swelling) due to heat and age, which creates an interference fit inside the X3's narrow down tube. This expansion, coupled with the friction of the glass-fiber-reinforced protective tape, prevents the pack from sliding out even after the locking bolts are removed. The design lacks sufficient clearance for the standard physical changes occurring in high-density cell arrays over their lifecycle.
