Variable Speed Inverter Drive Module
The XV20i uses an inverter drive to convert residential AC power into variable-frequency 3-phase power. If the Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistors (IGBTs) within the drive fail or the DC bus capacitors degrade, the drive cannot generate the high starting torque required to overcome the compressor's static inertia. This leads to a software lockout where the system refuses to attempt further starts to prevent electrical damage.

Variable Speed Scroll Compressor
Internal mechanical failure such as a locked rotor (LRA) or worn scroll members can cause the compressor to seize. In a variable-speed system, if the motor windings have a dielectric breakdown or if the internal orbiting scroll is physically obstructed, the inverter drive will detect an overcurrent condition during the initial 'ramp-up' phase and terminate the startup sequence immediately.

Main Integrated Control Board
The control board acts as the central logic hub for the communicating system. If the microprocessor fails to establish a digital handshake with the inverter drive or the outdoor fan motor via the serial communication bus, it will withhold the 'Run' command. This is often caused by thermal stress on the logic circuits or a failed relay on the low-voltage side of the board.
