Dual Run Capacitor
The physical swelling of the capacitor shell indicates the internal safety interrupter has been triggered due to dielectric outgassing. This mechanical expansion is designed to disconnect the internal circuit when the component fails to prevent thermal runaway. Replacing the capacitor restores the necessary phase shift for the induction motors (compressor and fan) to operate without excessive amperage draw.
