Water Inlet Valve (Dual Solenoid)

The internal rubber diaphragm within the solenoid valve often loses its elasticity or becomes obstructed by calcium deposits. This prevents the valve from forming a watertight seal when de-energized, causing water to continuously 'weep' into the ice mold, eventually leading to a reservoir overflow and ice bridging.

Modular Ice Maker Assembly

The mechanical timing gear or the micro-switch responsible for the water fill duration can fail or stick. If the switch remains closed for even a few additional seconds due to mechanical friction or contact pitting, the ice mold will receive a higher volume of water than its displacement capacity allows.

Water Pressure Regulator

The refrigerator's inlet valve is rated for a specific PSI range (typically 20-120 PSI). If the home's static water pressure exceeds these specifications, the hydrostatic force can physically lift the solenoid plunger off its seat, resulting in an uncontrolled flow of water into the freezer compartment regardless of electronic commands.
