This kit includes the air filter, fuel filter, and spark plug. These are the three primary components responsible for the air-fuel-spark triad required for ignition. Replacing these addresses carbon fouling on the plug and restricted fuel/air flow which are the most common causes of a non-start condition in units stored with fuel.

Carburetor Assembly

Internal diaphragms in the carburetor lose elasticity over time, especially when exposed to ethanol-blended fuels. If the service kit does not resolve the issue, the carburetor is likely unable to pump fuel or the internal jets are occluded by fuel varnish. Replacing the assembly is often more reliable than a rebuild for this model due to its plastic housing design.

Fuel Line

Rubber fuel lines on Stihl saws are prone to cracking or collapsing over time due to chemical degradation. A cracked line introduces air into the fuel system (a 'lean' condition), preventing the engine from drawing enough vacuum to pull fuel from the tank into the cylinder for combustion.
