Cylinder and Piston Kit
Loss of pressure or compression in a 2-stroke engine is almost exclusively caused by scoring on the cylinder walls and piston. This damage occurs when the lubrication film fails, leading to metal-on-metal contact that gouges the surfaces and prevents the piston rings from creating an airtight seal. This kit replaces the entire combustion chamber to restore factory-spec compression.

Piston Ring Set
If the cylinder wall is still smooth and can be cleaned of aluminum transfer using muriatic acid, replacing only the rings can occasionally restore compression. This is a more economical repair attempted when the scoring is superficial and restricted to the soft piston material rather than the hardened cylinder bore.

Engine Gasket and Seal Set
Internal pressure can also be lost through leaking crankcase seals or a blown base gasket. If the piston and cylinder appear healthy upon inspection, failed seals will prevent the primary compression necessary to move fuel from the crankcase to the combustion chamber.
