Steam Deck Trigger Assembly (L2/R2)

The analog trigger utilizes a spring-loaded pivot arm that travels through a narrow aperture in the device's rear shell. If the assembly's pivot pin or the plastic housing is slightly out of spec, it creates an interference fit with the enclosure, leading to the reported 'sticky' tactile response. Replacing the full assembly ensures the return spring and pivot geometry are within nominal functional parameters.

Steam Deck Rear Plate

The back cover contains the guide rails and structural ribs that define the trigger's path. If the enclosure has molding variances or if the internal clips are deformed, the plastic shell will exert lateral pressure on the trigger button. This friction exceeds the return force of the trigger's internal spring, causing the component to remain partially depressed or feel 'mushy'.
