The foam and felt filters are the primary defensive barrier for the motor; when saturated with fine dust, they increase air resistance significantly, causing the 'clogged' motor tone and total loss of lift. Replacing these restores the static pressure within the dust cup assembly.

Replacement HEPA Filter

The post-motor HEPA filter captures remaining micro-particulates; if not replaced annually, it becomes a bottleneck for exhaust air. This back-pressure prevents the motor from spinning at optimal RPM, manifesting as weak suction at the floor head.
