Door Lock Switch Assembly

This electromechanical component uses a solenoid or wax motor to engage a physical deadbolt. Over time, electrical resistance in the internal contacts can lead to localized overheating, causing the plastic housing to melt and physically seize the locking pin in the 'engaged' position. Once the housing is deformed, the mechanical return spring cannot overcome the friction, leaving the door permanently locked regardless of power state.

Drain Pump Assembly

Samsung washers utilize a logic-based safety lockout that prevents the door from opening if the pressure transducer detects water in the drum. If the drain pump impeller is jammed by debris or suffers a motor winding failure, water remains in the sump, signaling the control board to keep the door locked to prevent a flood. This is a common secondary cause of locked doors where the machine has stopped mid-cycle.

Water Level Pressure Switch

The pressure switch monitors air pressure within a tube connected to the drum to determine water level. If the tube is clogged with sediment or the switch diaphragm is ruptured, it can send a false 'water present' signal to the Main PCB.
