Refrigerator Defrost Sensor (Thermistor)
This thermistor monitors the temperature of the evaporator coils to signal the end of the defrost cycle. If it drifts out of calibration, the system may skip defrost cycles, causing ice to encapsulate the evaporator and block airflow. Without airflow, the cabinet temperature rises above the 59°F threshold, triggering the flashing high-temperature alarm on the control panel.

Evaporator Fan Motor
The fan motor is responsible for circulating chilled air from the evaporator coils into the fresh food and freezer compartments. In these models, moisture ingress can cause the motor bearings to seize or the internal hall effect sensor to fail. If the fan cannot reach the RPMs requested by the control board, cooling capacity drops immediately, resulting in the flashing temperature display.

Main Power Control Board
The Main PCB regulates the compressor speed and the defrost heater relays. A voltage spike or component fatigue can damage the logic circuit responsible for interpreting sensor data or driving the compressor inverter. If the board fails to engage the cooling system after a defrost or power event, the internal temperature will rise until the flashing alert is initiated.
