Dryer Drive Belt

This 92-inch multi-rib belt is the primary mechanical connection between the drive motor and the drum. Over time, heat and friction cause the rubber to fray or snap. If the belt breaks, the drum will not rotate, and on this model, the idler arm switch will likely prevent the motor from even starting as a safety precaution.

Dryer Idler Pulley Assembly

The idler pulley maintains tension on the drive belt. Samsung idler pulleys frequently experience bearing failure where the plastic wheel seizes or melts. When the pulley stops spinning, it creates extreme friction that either snaps the belt or causes the motor to stall, resulting in a drum that will not turn.

Dryer Thermal Fuse

The thermal fuse is a safety device located on the blower housing that monitors exhaust temperature. If the dryer's internal temperature exceeds the fuse's limit (often due to blocked home venting), the fuse blows, opening the electrical circuit to the motor. This prevents the motor from spinning the drum entirely.
