Mater XP110 Pressurestat

The Mater pressurestat uses a mechanical bellows and microswitch to regulate boiler pressure; over time, the internal spring loses tension or the contacts arc, causing the deadband to narrow. This results in the heating element cycling on and off much more frequently than the standard 90-second duty cycle, producing a rapid clicking sound.

Vacuum Breaker Valve

This valve is designed to close once the boiler reaches steam pressure; if the internal O-ring fails or becomes fouled with scale, it allows a constant micro-leak of steam. This continuous loss of pressure forces the pressurestat to actuate the heating element repeatedly to maintain the 1.0-1.2 bar setpoint, leading to excessive clicking.

Pressurestat Capillary Tube

The narrow copper tube connecting the boiler to the pressurestat is prone to calcium carbonate (scale) restriction. A partial blockage creates a pressure differential that causes the pressurestat to react to localized pressure spikes rather than the actual boiler volume, resulting in erratic and frequent mechanical switching.
