HDMI 2.1 Port Connector

The most common failure mode is the physical displacement or bending of the 19 internal pins within the connector housing, which prevents electrical continuity with the HDMI cable. Due to the weight of 2.1-spec cables and frequent plugging, the mechanical mounting tabs or signal pads often fatigue and crack. Replacing the discrete port restores the physical interface required for signal transmission.

HDMI Encoder IC

If the port appears physically intact but there is no signal, the HDMI encoder chip may have failed due to an electrical surge through the HDMI line. This chip translates the console's internal signals into a display-readable format and is the secondary point of failure in the video output circuit.

HDMI ESD Protection Diode

Located near the port, these TVS diodes protect the circuit from electrostatic discharge. If the user 'broke' the port by causing a short during a cable insertion, these components may blow to protect the encoder, resulting in no video output even if the port is replaced.
