GICAR PID Controller Display

The PID module contains an internal transformer that converts AC line voltage to DC logic levels; if this transformer or the primary capacitors fail due to heat soak from the adjacent boiler, the display will lose all power. This is a common failure mode in HX machines where internal ambient temperatures degrade small-scale electronics over several years.

Magnetic Water Reservoir Float

The GICAR control logic utilizes a reed switch and a magnetic float to detect water presence; if the magnet inside the float loses its field strength or becomes stuck, the machine enters a 'no-water' state, which intentionally de-energizes the PID display to prevent heater activation.
