Anti-Skate Weight

The anti-skate weight provides the counter-lateral force necessary to balance the tonearm. If the weight is missing, or if the nylon thread is snagged or improperly positioned on the adjustment notches, the tonearm will drift uncontrollably across the record surface or toward the armrest due to unbalanced centripetal force.

Tonearm Lift / Cueing Bank

This component features a rubberized strip designed to provide enough friction to hold the tonearm in place while elevated. Drifting while cued is typically caused by the loss of friction on this surface, often due to contamination from the internal silicone damping fluid or environmental dust, allowing the anti-skate tension to pull the arm laterally.

Anti-Skating Thread Hanger

The hanger is the guide wire that holds the anti-skate thread at a specific angle to ensure linear force application. If this hanger is bent or loose, the vector of the anti-skating force changes, causing the arm to drift inconsistently as it moves across the radius of the platter.
