The LCD in an MSLA printer is a consumable component subject to photochemical degradation. Constant exposure to high-energy UV light eventually breaks down the liquid crystal molecules and the polarizing filters, resulting in pixels that can no longer transition between opaque and transparent states. Physical pressure from resin debris between the vat and the screen can also cause micro-fractures in the TFT backplane, leading to dead pixel clusters.
