Shaft Seal (Heavy Duty/Viton)

The mechanical shaft seal prevents water from migrating along the motor shaft into the motor housing. It fails when the carbon and ceramic faces become pitted or cracked due to heat (dry-running) or chemical imbalance, allowing pressurized water to bypass the rotating assembly. Replacing this specific part restores the watertight barrier between the wet-end hydraulics and the electric motor.

Seal Plate Gasket

This large O-ring seals the junction between the seal plate and the pump volute. High-pressure cycles and chemical exposure can cause the elastomer to flatten (compression set) or become brittle, resulting in seepage that mimics a shaft seal leak at the bottom of the pump.

Seal Plate

If the shaft seal has been leaking for an extended period, the plastic of the seal plate can undergo 'chalking' or erosion due to the constant presence of chlorinated water and heat. This prevents a new shaft seal from seating properly, necessitating a full replacement of the plate to ensure a flat, stable mounting surface.
