Drive Belt (Motor Belt)

The Flexonic drive belt relies on elastic tension to transfer torque from the motor pulley to the front roller. Over time, the rubber compounds undergo thermal degradation and stretch, losing the tension required to overcome the inertia of a user's foot strike. This results in the belt sliding over the motor pulley ribs during high-torque demands.

Increased kinetic friction between the walking belt's underside and the phenolic deck deck creates a 'stutter' or slipping sensation. If the lubricant layer has dissipated or crystallized, the motor must pull against higher resistance; when the user's weight is applied, the friction spike causes the drive belt to slip or the motor controller to momentarily limit current, mimicking a mechanical slip.

Walking Belt

The walking belt is a multi-ply fabric and PVC assembly that can stretch beyond the adjustment range of the rear roller tensioning bolts. Once the belt has reached its maximum elongation, the rear roller cannot be moved further back to maintain the necessary tension, allowing the drive roller to spin inside the belt loop without moving it.
