Nest Cam Solar Panel
The solar panel provides the necessary DC trickle charge through a proprietary magnetic cable that includes a data line for the charging handshake. If the panel's internal photodiode array or the magnetic connector's integrated controller fails, the camera's PMIC will reject the incoming current to protect the internal battery. This prevents the camera from switching its logic from high-consumption 'Battery Mode' to the energy-efficient 'Wired Mode' profile.
