Steering Housing Assembly
The steering housing contains a high-reduction gear train that is susceptible to stripping when the motor shaft hits an underwater obstruction or is forced manually while the drive is engaged. The internal nylon gears act as a mechanical fuse; once the teeth are sheared, the steering motor will spin without rotating the motor head. Replacing the sealed housing assembly is the required fix to restore the electromechanical link between the steering motor and the drive shaft.
