The flow meter is responsible for measuring the exact volume of water/descaling solution pumped through the system via a rotating turbine and magnetic pick-up. During a descaling cycle, the software waits for a specific pulse count to trigger the transition from the 'Descale' to 'Rinse' phase; if the turbine is stalled by calcification or the sensor fails to register pulses, the program progress will freeze indefinitely.
