Surface Pro Signature Keyboard Assembly
The failure is localized to the internal flat flexible cable (FFC) within the hinge area, where repetitive mechanical stress causes fatigue and fracture of the conductive copper traces. When these traces fail, the Surface cannot complete the digital handshake with the keyboard's microcontroller, leading to a 'not detected' state in the OS. Because the assembly is ultrasonically welded and laminated, the internal circuitry is non-serviceable, necessitating a full assembly replacement.
