Surface Laptop 5 Display Assembly
The failure is a result of mechanical stress concentration at the glass-to-metal interface due to the lack of a protective perimeter gasket. Thermal expansion of the aluminum lid creates localized pressure on the glass edge, leading to spontaneous fracture propagation. Because the digitizer, LCD, and glass are fused and bonded to the metal lid, the entire top-half assembly must be replaced to resolve the structural defect.
