Water Separating Fuel Filter
Marine fuel systems often undergo phase separation where ethanol-blended fuel absorbs atmospheric moisture, leading to a water-rich layer at the bottom of the fuel filter. The WIF sensor detects this conductive layer and triggers the alarm. Replacing the filter element removes the accumulated water and restores the dielectric environment required for the sensor to remain in a 'normal' state.
