Universal Linear Compressor Kit
The linear compressor uses a reciprocating piston driven by an electromagnetic field rather than a traditional crankshaft. Internal mechanical fatigue in the piston sleeve or a failure in the tension springs prevents the unit from maintaining refrigerant compression, leading to a mechanical stall. The clicking occurs as the inverter board attempts to initiate a soft-start sequence, fails to detect the correct back-EMF, and cycles the power relay.

Main Power Control Board
The main PCB contains the inverter circuitry that modulates the voltage and frequency sent to the linear compressor. If the capacitors or the IPM (Intelligent Power Module) on this board degrade, the board cannot provide the high-torque current required to overcome the compressor's initial static friction. This results in an audible relay click every time the board tries and fails to energize the compressor motor.

Condenser Fan Motor
If the condenser fan motor fails or is obstructed, the heat from the compressed refrigerant cannot be dissipated. This leads to extreme head pressure and high operating temperatures at the compressor, eventually triggering the thermal overload protector. The clicking heard is the thermal switch physically opening to prevent the motor windings from melting due to the lack of airflow.
