Linear Compressor
The internal piston or discharge valve in the LG-made linear compressor has failed, causing a mechanical stall. The clicking sound is the overload protector reacting to the high current draw (LRA) as the motor attempts to start. This is a documented pattern failure for the Kenmore Elite series.

Compressor Start Relay & Overload Assembly
The PTC (Positive Temperature Coefficient) thermistor or the bi-metal overload disc within this assembly may have experienced thermal degradation. If the thermistor fails to provide the necessary resistance shift, the compressor cannot initiate its start phase, leading to the repeated clicking of the safety trip.

Main Power Control Board (PCB)
The inverter circuit on the main board responsible for sending the frequency-modulated voltage to the compressor may have failed capacitors or burnt traces. If the board sends an improper voltage signal, the compressor will fail to synchronize and the overload will trip.
