Defrost Controller Assembly
This assembly contains both the defrost thermistor and the thermal safety fuse. If the fuse blows or the thermistor fails to report a temperature rise during the defrost cycle, the control board triggers the dH error to prevent ice buildup. It is the most common failure point in LG-manufactured Kenmore units.

Defrost Heating Element
The heating element is responsible for the physical sublimation of frost on the evaporator coils. If the sheath of the heater cracks or the internal filament breaks, the circuit remains open, and no heat is generated, resulting in the system timing out and displaying the dH code.

Main Power Control Board
The main PCB contains the relay that switches line voltage to the defrost circuit. If the relay contacts are pitted or the logic circuit fails to initiate the defrost sequence, the system will not heat, causing the error code despite the sub-components being functional.
