Steering Pivot Bushing

These polymer bushings are the primary wear surface for the steering lever shafts. Over time, the cyclical loading from the operator's arms causes the inner diameter to ovalize, creating radial play that translates to a loose or sloppy feeling at the handles. Replacing these restores the tight tolerances required for precise control of the hydrostatic drives.

Steering Control Damper

The dampers are small hydraulic shocks that provide resistance and prevent the steering arms from snapping back too quickly. If the internal seals fail or the fluid leaks, the lever will lose its resistive 'weight,' making the steering feel disconnected and loose during operation. This is a common failure point on the Z300 series after high-hour usage or exposure to extreme temperatures.

Steering Lever Hardware Kit

The shoulder bolts and eccentric adjustment nuts that secure the control lever to the pivot arm are subjected to high-frequency vibration from the deck and engine. If the nylon-insert lock nuts lose their grip, the fasteners can back out slightly, allowing the lever handle to wobble independently of the steering linkage. Replacing the locking hardware ensures the mechanical connection remains rigid.
