Electrolytic Cell (Titanium Plate)

The electrolytic cell is the primary component responsible for the electrolysis of sodium chloride into chlorine. Code 91 is triggered when the control board detects high electrical resistance, which occurs when the cell plates are either heavily fouled with mineral scale or the precious metal coating has worn off, preventing the flow of current through the water.

Electrolytic Cell O-Ring/Seal

Air ingress or minor leaks near the cell housing can cause turbulence and erratic conductivity readings. While less common for a hard Code 91, a compromised seal allows oxygen to interfere with the ion exchange process at the plate surface.

Replacement Saltwater System Control Board

If the cell is clean and salt levels are confirmed, the logic board's current-sensing resistor or the voltage regulator may have failed, causing the system to incorrectly interpret the amperage across the cell as being too low.
