Display Back Cover Assembly

This part contains the plastic standoffs and brass threaded inserts that anchor the hinges. In almost all HP 'broken hinge' cases, the mechanical failure is actually the plastic housing shattering at these stress points, making the back cover the primary structural component required for repair.

If the hinges have seized or become overly stiff due to dust or oxidation, they will exert excessive torque on the plastic mounts. Replacing them alongside the back cover ensures the mechanical resistance is within factory specifications to prevent a repeat failure of the new housing.

Palmrest Assembly

In some Omen 16 revisions, the hinge failure occurs at the base attachment rather than the lid. If the laptop is 'splitting' at the bottom when opened, the brass inserts in the palmrest/top-case have failed, requiring a full transplant of the internal components to a new chassis plate.
