The internal power management circuit on the main PCB is prone to failure, preventing the device from converting 24VAC input into DC logic power. This results in a total display blackout even when the backplate is correctly receiving system power. Replacing the head unit resolves the internal electrical fault without requiring new wiring.

3-Amp ATC/ATO Fuse

This fuse is located on the furnace or air handler's integrated control board and protects the 24V transformer. If the fuse blows due to a momentary short or contactor spike, the thermostat loses all power (C-wire path), leading to a blank screen when batteries are absent.

Condensate Overflow Float Switch

This safety device is wired in series with the thermostat's power supply. If the HVAC drain line becomes clogged, the switch triggers and breaks the electrical connection to the thermostat to shut down the cooling system. This manifests as a blank screen on the thermostat as the 'R' or 'C' power loop is physically interrupted.
