Auger Drive Belt

The drive belt is the primary mechanical link between the engine crankshaft and the auger pulley. Over time, the rubber compounds undergo thermal degradation and friction-induced wear, leading to glazing, stretching, or eventual snapping. If the belt is broken or excessively stretched, the idler pulley cannot apply sufficient tension to rotate the auger when the lever is engaged.

Auger Clutch Cable

This cable transmits the physical force from the handle lever to the idler arm. Mechanical failure occurs when the internal steel strands fray or snap, or when the cable housing stretches beyond the adjustment range. Without proper cable tension, the drive system cannot pull the idler pulley into the belt, resulting in a total failure to engage the paddles.

Auger Paddle Service Kit

On single-stage units, the rubber paddles provide both the snow-throwing force and the self-propulsion. Once these paddles wear past the factory-specified clearance (typically 15mm), they lose contact with the pavement and the snow volume, creating a sensation that the machine is not 'engaging' or pulling itself forward despite the auger spinning.
